Why do we celebrate Maa Katyayani on the sixth day of Navaratri?

The sixth day of Navaratri is devoted to Maa Katyayani, the symbol of courage and power. She was the answer to Sage Katyayana’s prayer to Goddess Shakti to be his daughter. She fought the menacing Mahishasura with divine energy from Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.
